Skylanders is a video game series that is published by Activision. The games are played along with toy figures that interact with it
through a "Portal of Power" that reads their tag through NFC. The "Portal" changes colors as it interacts with the game. Game Exchange has a showcase full of skylanders and accessories. You can even trade in your unwanted skylanders for cash or store credit.
There are several types of skylanders:
Lightcore Figures are Skylanders that light up when used on the Portal of Power, and cause a damaging explosion when entering the game.
Giants Figures are Skylanders that are twice the size and power of regular Skylanders. They are the only Skylanders that can be used in Feats of Strength, which are special events in the Story Mode that give massive rewards.
Series 2 Figures are figures from the first Skylanders game, but with upgraded stats and abilities. They also have a special Wow-Pow Ability in-game.
Legendary Figures are figures with gold armor and increased Damage and Armor stats.
Special Edition Figures are figures that may have different colors, designs, or abilities, but are exclusives or hard to find pieces.
There are eight different elements all Skylanders can fall under. They are:
Air, Earth, Fire, Life, Magic, Tech, Undead, Water
These Elements are used to progress through the Story Mode.
All Skylanders can purchase abilities from Persephone on The Dread-Yacht Use the Skylander to earn and save currency on that particular Skylander. Use that currency to purchase upgrades. Once you purchase the first four upgrades, you'll be able to choose one of two paths to further upgrade your Skylander.
Each Skylander figure will keep all that information stored inside of it, not inside the game, in an RFID card which is used to store everything below. This allows Skylanders to be used across all major gaming consoles!
The following items are saved onto the figure:
Experience Points and Experience Level, the “Nickname” that you give to your Skylander, Currency, Upgraded abilities and Statistics, the Hat your Skylander is wearing, the Quest ranking of your Skylander
It is possible to reset all this information by selecting Reset in the Manage section of the Skylander Info menu in-game.
